양립가능론은 자유를 강제 없이 자신의 욕구에 따라 행위하는 것으로 재정의한다. 애초에 결정론이 한 번도 위협한 적 없는 종류의 자유다.

相容论把自由重新定义为不受强迫地依自己的欲望行事——这种自由本来就从未受到决定论的威胁。
